Epiphany is a cool open-source web browser that works great with the GNOME desktop environment. But don't worry if you use something else—just make sure your system meets the GTK+ requirements, and you're good to go! Built on the WebKit rendering engine, Epiphany aims to provide users with a simple and straightforward browsing experience.
The interface is really user-friendly, designed especially for people who aren't super tech-savvy. It follows the latest GNOME Human Interface Guidelines (HIG), so it fits in nicely with other GNOME apps.
You'll notice a single toolbar at the top of the browser. This includes a location bar, buttons for New Tab, Previous, Next, and even a gear icon for settings. From this gear button, you can do stuff like open new tabs or files, save web pages locally or as web apps, check out page sources, and bookmark your favorite sites!
Epiphany also offers basic text editing tools like copy, paste, cut, undo and redo. Plus, you can search for text on pages and print them out too! Need to zoom in or out? No problem!
Your tabs will show up right under that main toolbar when you have more than one open. The New Tab page has a neat speed dial feature that lets you quickly jump to your favorite sites. Just keep in mind that there's no way to rearrange those thumbnails on the New Tab page.
You usually get Epiphany as part of the GNOME desktop package but it can be installed separately on other desktop environments or window managers. It's a decent web browser if you're looking for something simple. However, if you want something more robust and popular like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, we suggest giving those a try instead!
