Description

Files

Files is a handy alternative for those who find the latest Windows updates a bit overwhelming. With each new version of Windows, Microsoft tries to keep things fresh and appealing. But let’s be real, sometimes these changes can throw off long-time users. If you’re not a fan of the current Fluent Design look, don’t worry! Files can give you that classic file explorer vibe without all the bells and whistles.

Quick Installation Process

The installation is super quick. Once it’s done, just double-click the shortcut on your desktop, and voilà! You’ll see a simple dual-pane interface that most folks expect from file managers. On the left side, there’s a tree-style view where you can easily access your main folders—perfect for getting to important documents, downloads, and favorite media in no time.

User-Friendly Navigation

The right side lets you browse through your folders smoothly, while the top address bar is there for when you need to jump straight to specific locations on your computer. Plus, if you're into customizing how things look, you can choose from different view modes like large icons or detailed lists to match your workflow.

Features and Limitations

Now, while Files has some cool features for such a lightweight app, it does have its quirks. For instance, at this point in time, you can't click an entry in the left-side tree view to show its contents on the right side. Also, dragging and dropping files into folders isn’t supported yet—so organizing might feel a bit tricky at times. The right-click context menu also lacks some options that could make life easier.

A Solution for Crashes

If your Windows Explorer tends to crash or feels sluggish now and then, Files could be just what you need for simpler tasks! Its lightweight design means it won’t hog up memory while helping with basic file management tasks.
