Flatsweep is a tool I really love, especially if you're into Flatpak apps like me. The cool thing about Flatpak is that it lets apps run on a bunch of different Linux distributions. It's super handy! But have you ever thought about what happens to all those leftover files after you uninstall some apps? Well, let me tell you.
The short answer? Not too many! If you only uninstall a couple of Flatpak apps here and there, you're probably fine. But imagine if you've got hundreds of these apps installed! Those leftover files can start to pile up pretty quickly.
This is exactly why Flatsweep was created. It's a free and open-source app built with Python, designed to help you easily remove any leftover junk from uninstalled Flatpak apps. And trust me, it's super simple to use!
The best part? You don’t need to be a tech wizard! Even if you have no idea what a 'custom install path' means, you'll have no problem with this app. Just install it, open it up, hit the “Clean” button, and voilà! No complicated menus or extra settings—just straightforward cleaning!
Flatsweep checks the default Flatpak install directory for leftovers. This includes any apps you've grabbed from Flathub too. It gives you a quick look at how much junk is still hanging around and shows you which folders will be cleaned.
I also appreciate that Flatsweep uses GTK4 and Libadwaita. I’m a huge fan of GNOME myself, so I might be biased, but honestly, it works great no matter what distribution or desktop environment you're using.
While Flatsweep might not blow your mind with flashy features, it does its job perfectly—and that's what matters! After using Flatpak and Flathub for ages, I used to delete leftover files manually. Now? I just click once with my mouse!
