Description

Flush

Flush is a cool open-source software that acts like a uTorrent-style torrent and magnet downloader. It's made to work on GNU/Linux operating systems, especially where the GTK+ toolkit is available.

Key Features of Flush

With Flush, you can check out torrent details before downloading them. It automatically starts a torrent when you add it, lets you move finished torrents to a different spot, and even loads torrent files from a specific folder without hassle. Plus, you can set custom download locations for each torrent!

Advanced Support

This software supports some great features like UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), DHT (Distributed Hash Table), PEX (Peer Exchange), LSD (Local Service Discovery), and NAT-PMP (NAT Port Mapping Protocol). One standout feature is Smart Ban, which accurately bans peers sending bad packages.

Control at Your Fingertips

You can also manage Flush via the command-line interface (CLI). It allows you to pause and resume downloads, view session statistics, choose character encoding for your torrents, filter IPs, and run multiple instances with different settings.

Built for GNU/Linux

This application is written entirely in C++, using the GTK+ GUI toolkit for its user interface. It's specifically designed for GNU/Linux OSes and offers binary packages for Ubuntu users. If you're looking to configure or install it on other Linux-based systems, there's a source archive available too!

A Great Alternative

Flush is based on Rasterbar's libtorrent library and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. So if you're coming from Windows XP and need an alternative to uTorrent in the GNU/Linux ecosystem, this might be just what you need.

The Missing Features

However, it's worth noting that some important features are missing from this app—like encryption, blocklist options, scheduling downloads, and remote control capabilities. If you're using desktop environments like GNOME or Xfce, we recommend checking out Transmission BitTorrent client, or KTorrent if you're on KDE or Razor-qt DEs.
