Description

Fragments

Fragments is making waves among Linux users. Even though it’s a newer project, it has quickly become a favorite thanks to its clean design and strong features. Users love how uncluttered the interface feels, which makes it easy to navigate.

What's New in Fragments 2.0?

The big update came in early 2022 with the release of Fragments 2.0. This version brought some major changes that took the app to the next level. We saw a shiny new user interface, an improved torrent properties dialog, and a complete overhaul of the Preferences section.

Cool Features You’ll Love

One of the standout additions is the new statistics tab. It shows off your overall bandwidth usage and uptime for your current session in a clear way. Plus, you can now pick where you want your downloads to go! And if you're worried about incomplete torrents? No problem! You can save those in their own directory.

A BitTorrent Client with Strong Roots

It’s no surprise that Fragments is such a solid BitTorrent client. It builds on the strong foundation of Transmission (the transmission-daemon), which is well-known for being reliable.

Compatibility Across Linux Distributions

This app was completely rebuilt using Rust and GTK4, but here’s the best part: it’s not just for GNOME users! Thanks to being distributed as a Flatpak, you can run Fragments on almost any major Linux distribution. Elementary OS folks have it even easier since they can install it directly from their AppCenter!

Is Fragments Right for You?

While Fragments looks fantastic and works great for everyday users, it's worth noting that some power users might find it lacking in features like scheduling or limiting bandwidth usage. So if you're after those advanced options, you might need to look elsewhere.
