FUSBi is a super handy software that helps you download free GNU/Linux distributions and create bootable USB images. If you're looking to get started with Linux, this tool makes it easy peasy!
With FUSBi, you can automate the installation of all the FSF-endorsed Free Software GNU/Linux distributions. This includes cool options like gNewSense, UTUTO, Dynebolic, Musix GNU+Linux, BLAG, and GNUstep. Plus, if you have local image files saved on your computer, you can use those too!
You bet! FUSBi is completely free software and is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3 or later. No strings attached!
FUSBi was actually modified from another software called UNetbootin. If you're planning to build it yourself, you'll need the Qt4 development libraries for both GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows.
You can easily download the FUSBi binary file for GNU/Linux here. Just make sure it has permission to be executed! Before you double-click to run it, don’t forget to install p7zip-full using the command: apt-get install p7zip-full
. If you're on Fedora-based systems, you'll need the p7zip-plugins package instead.
If you'd like FUSBi to automatically grab the distribution image for you, just pick out the distribution name and version. Already have a disc image saved on your hard drive? No problem! Select the Diskimage option and browse for your image file.
The next step is picking which USB drive you want to use (make sure it's at least 1 GB!). Once you've done that, hit OK. And hey, if you're feeling adventurous, you can even install directly onto your hard disk—just ensure your disk is properly partitioned first!
Go to the Softpas website, press the 'Downloads' button, and pick the app you want to download and install—easy and fast!
