What is GETD FOR LINUX?

Getd is a handy app for Linux that makes managing your USB storage super easy. With its Gtk2 interface, you can quickly handle all your files without any fuss.

How Getd Works

This app takes care of mounting your USB drive automatically to the right spot and does all the heavy lifting for you! For example, it can run scripts to sync files between your USB and hard drive or even transfer photos from your camera. Oh, and if you're worried about security, Getd supports encrypted disks too!

What You Need to Use Getd

Before diving in, make sure you have these requirements installed:

• Gtk2 >= 2.0


• Orbit2 >= 0.5.3


• Xml2 >= 2.0


• Gconf2 >= 2.0


• glibc >= 2.3.2


• util-linux >= 2.11r (patched for crypto support)


• dosfstools >= 2.10 (for vfat support)


• e2fsprogs >= 1.29 (for ext2/ext3 support)

What's New in Getd?

The latest version has some cool updates:

• A new fsck check before mounting for ext2/ext3 (BETA).


• It now detects if a device is already mounted at startup.


• The close button was removed because it wasn't really needed—just use the window widget instead.


• Additions include better support for USB HDDs.


• A new script variable called GETD_MAIN_DEV.


• A refresh button lets you mount media without having to unplug them first!


• Bugs were squashed, including adding a scrollbar for long script text windows.


• A lock file feature prevents multiple instances from running at once.


• The app checks if all external apps are installed when it starts up.

No more double umount script executions either! Plus, there's now an 'admin' page that helps with checking and repairing ext2/ext3 and vfat filesystems.
