Trying to figure out Git for the first time might seem a bit intimidating. While Git is not exactly rocket science, it's definitely not a walk in the park, especially for beginners.
You have two main options: you can either learn how to use Git from the command line, or you can use a Git client.
While the command line is exceptionally fast when it comes to basic tasks such as cloning, committing, and fetching, for a beginner it can prove to be hell for more complex tasks such as merging, rebasing, managing branches, and so forth.
Collaborating on projects, especially when Git is involved, can bring forth a series of hurdles. GitKraken automatically detects and alerts users of potential conflicts. It's also very adept at resolving merge conflicts. Thanks to its built-in Merge Tool, GitKraken makes conflict resolution a lot easier. For example, you can see the current branch right next to the target branch you're merging into.
GitKraken has matured greatly since 2015 when it came out of beta. Long gone are the days of sudden crashes and extreme resource consumption. You do indeed have to pay a premium to "release" the full potential of "the Kraken," but considering just how much value GitKraken can bring to teams that heavily rely on Git, as well as beginner Git users, it's more than worth the asking price.
