Description

GlusterFS

GlusterFS is a free and open-source command-line tool that helps you manage large amounts of data. It's designed to be flexible, letting you scale up your storage needs to petabytes! Plus, it works with different protocols, making it a unified filesystem for clustered file storage.

Easy Setup and Management

This program is super easy to set up and manage. You can rearrange its components using the translator interface to create a custom filesystem that fits your specific storage needs.

Command-Line Options

If you're curious about what commands you can use, just run glusterfs --help in your terminal. This will show you several options like choosing a volume file for logging or changing the logging severity. You can also specify which server to pull the volume file from and set the max attempts to connect!

Advanced Features

There are some cool advanced features too! For instance, you can mount the filesystem with POSIX ACL support or use 32-bit inodes if your apps don't support 64-bit ones. And if you're debugging, there's even a mode for that!

Cache Management and Transport Options

You have control over cache management when opening files as well. You can pick a Unix socket file, choose how to get the volume file from the server, specify translator names as mount points, and tweak translator options right in your volume file.

FUSE Options Available

If you're using FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace), there are extra options available too! These include direct I/O mode support in the FUSE kernel module and dumping FUSE traffic to specific locations. You can also set timeouts for auxiliary group lists or enable strict volume file checking.

A GNU Cluster Distribution

GlusterFS is part of an open-source GNU cluster distribution aimed at making Superstorage and Supercomputing accessible. It serves as a platform for creating clustering applications tailored for tasks like Storage Clustering, HPC Clustering, Database Clustering, or Enterprise Provisioning.
