GPaste is a clipboard manager that I can't imagine living without, especially for my daily tasks. If you’ve ever copied, cut, or pasted something on your computer, then you’ve already used a clipboard!
A clipboard manager is super handy because it keeps track of everything you copy and paste. This is especially useful if you're juggling multiple pieces of information at once.
If you're using Linux like me, you'll find tons of clipboard managers out there. But with all the different Linux distros and desktop environments, finding the right one can feel tricky. That’s where GPaste comes in! It works beautifully with GNOME and has a GTK GUI that makes it easy to use.
You might wonder why GPaste was created. Well, it aims to be the next generation of Parcellite, which was a popular lightweight clipboard manager back in the day but got left behind around 2011. Since then, people have needed something good specifically for GNOME users.
One great thing about GPaste is its smooth integration with GNOME Shell. It provides a searchable clipboard history and even lets you save images to your clipboard (just turn this feature on in Settings). You can also customize keyboard shortcuts and tweak settings like buffer size and memory usage.
You can grab GPaste easily by checking out the links on Softpas. While the official GitHub repo mainly supports Exherbo Linux, don’t worry! It’s available for Ubuntu (just run "sudo apt install gpaste-2"), Red Hat/Fedora (use "sudo dnf install gpaste"), and Arch Linux too (with "sudo pacman -S gpaste").
If you're into command-line stuff, GPaste has got you covered with its CLI interface (gpaste-client). There’s even a subcommand that brings up the GUI!
Overall, GPaste is an efficient and straightforward clipboard tool. While it might not have every feature under the sun, it’s super user-friendly and lightweight enough to keep both newbies and advanced users satisfied—especially on GNOME!
