How to Play Hearts

So, what’s the deal with Hearts? It’s an evasion-type trick-taking game played with four players using a regular 52-card deck. Each player gets 13 cards, and the goal is to avoid winning tricks and keep your points as low as possible. Sounds easy, right? Well, not so fast!

The Different Names of Hearts

You might hear people call it different names like Black Lady, Dark Lady, Crubs, or even Black Queen. It’s part of the Whist family of trick-taking games, which makes it even cooler!

Strategy Matters!

Just like in the original game you know and love, playing your cards wisely is key. You’ll have a card-passing round where you can get rid of those pesky high cards that might get you stuck with penalty points. Keep an eye out for those Aces, Kings, or Queens—especially in Spades and Hearts!

The Rules of Engagement

When it’s your turn, you need to follow suit and play a card from the same suit as the lead card. But if you don’t have one? No worries! You can throw down any card—even that dreaded penalty Heart or the Queen of Spades.

A Quick Game Experience

The gameplay in Hearts Cards is smooth and fluid! All your opponents play their cards in real-time so you won’t be waiting around forever for their moves. You can even tweak the game speed by going into Preferences—you can pick Slow, Normal, or Fast—and decide if you want sounds on or off.

Customization Options

If that’s not enough fun for you, Hearts Cards lets you switch between four different game rules! You can set a score limit and change player names according to what feels best for your gaming session.
