Description

Iometer

Iometer is a cool tool for measuring and characterizing I/O subsystems, whether you're working on single systems or clustered ones. It's like having a handy assistant to help you understand how your systems are performing!

History of Iometer

So, here’s a fun fact: Iometer was originally developed by Intel and made its debut at the Intel Developers Forum on February 17, 1998. Since then, it has become pretty popular in the tech world.

Open Source Journey

After Intel decided to stop working on it, they passed the project over to the Open Source Development Lab (OSDL). In November 2001, you could find Iometer registered on SourceForge.net with an initial version available for everyone.

Community Driven Development

The exciting part? Since it relaunched in February 2003, an international group of passionate individuals has taken charge! They keep improving, porting, and extending this awesome tool so that it stays relevant.

Licensing Info

The tool itself (including Iometer and Dynamo executables) is shared under the Intel Open Source License. Plus, there are some parts like the iomtr_kstat kernel module that follow the GNU Public License for even more freedom!
