J4L OCR Tools is a powerful set of components designed to include OCR capabilities in Java applications. With these tools, you can easily extract business information from images obtained by scanning documents or receiving faxes.
Main Components:
- Java wrapper for the Tesseract OCR engine (Apache 2.0 license, Windows version)
- Text document parser
Image Recognition Process:
The image recognition process can be divided into 2 steps:
- The component takes an image file in various formats (tif, png, jpg, etc) and extracts the text using Tesseract OCR engine.
- The text returned by the OCR engine is then processed by the document parser, which uses a text string and an XML file to generate a structured business document either as a Java object or XML file.
