Description
KaNDAS
KaNDAS is a handy management tool for NDAS devices. It comes with the KaNDASd daemon that keeps an eye on any changes happening with your device. This means it lets clients connect and disconnect devices easily. Just a heads up, KaNDAS works only with network drives that use NDAS technology, like those sold by Trekstor, and they all run on the ndas kernel driver by Ximeta.
Features of KaNDAS
Besides the main KaNDAS client for KDE 4, you’ll also find some cool tools called KaNDASconsole. You can grab KaNDAS, KaNDASconsole, and KaNDASd straight from the project page! If you're using openSUSE, there are some packages you can download from my repository at the openSUSE build service:
- # openSUSE 10.3: OpenSUSE 10.3 Repository
- # openSUSE Factory: OpenSUSE Factory Repository
Future Plans for KaNDAS
Right now, KaNDAS is still in its early stages, but I've got big plans! I want to add features like starting and stopping the ndas driver and making it easier to add or remove devices.
User Interfaces on the Horizon
I’m also looking to create more interfaces—think GTK interface or maybe a tray icon or a Plasmoid! If you're curious about how everything works, you can check out the documentation for the daemon's interface at our project wiki. Plus, all the necessary development files come included in the KaNDASd source package.
