KBoot FOR LINUX



KBoot project is a proof-of-concept implementation of a Linux boot loader based on kexec. It utilizes a boot loader like LILO or GRUB to load a regular Linux kernel as its initial stage, enabling the complete functionalities of the kernel for booting.



KBoot integrates various components essential for a fully featured boot loader, showcasing their utilization. While the primary emphasis lies on fundamental technical operations, KBoot serves as a foundation for tailored boot environments with added features.

  • Supports most file systems and device drivers of the Linux kernel

  • Transparent system navigation, including auto-mounting guided by fstab

  • Network configuration can be manual or with DHCP, name resolution via hosts or DNS

  • Access to NFS files, HTTP, FTP, TFTP, inbound, outbound SSH from boot loader
