KSplasherX

KSplasherX is the splash engine designed for KDE 4. It’s a handy tool that lets you create functional splash screens, which are those cool images you see when your system is starting up. However, keep in mind that the splash screens you make might not be as easily scaled as the ones included in the default KDE installation.

Create Unique Splash Screens

This means that whatever you design in the editor screen will be how it looks in the end. If you want bigger icons, you'll need to use a smaller background or resize your icons before using them in KSplasherX. It's all about getting creative with your designs!

Testing and Saving Your Work

You can test your splash screens right away and save them either as a directory or a .tar.gz file. Plus, there’s an option to change author information and other details if needed.

Editing Limitations

One thing to note is that editing an existing splash screen isn’t really possible yet. This might not change due to all the options found in the description.txt file. So, it could make sense to rename this feature from "Editor and Creator" to just "Creator" since editing isn't available at this time.
