Kup Backup System is an open source and freely distributed graphical software implemented in Qt and designed to allow Linux users to easily backup their entire filesystems or just a specified folder/file. It is tailored specifically for the KDE desktop environment.
Moreover, Kup Backup System comprises of a configuration module, so you can easily configure your backup plans, a tiny program running in the background that will monitor your backup destination, a kioslave for accessing bup archives, and a file browsing application for bup archives.
The application is available for download as native installers for various Linux operating systems, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit computer architectures. A source archive is also available for download.
To install it, download the file that corresponds to your computer's hardware architecture and operating system, save it somewhere on your computer, double-click it and follow the on-screen instructions. Once installed, it can be accessed easily and quickly from the main menu of your desktop environment. Please keep in mind that while it has been designed for KDE, Kup Backup System is compatible with several other open source desktop environments.
After you've configured the application and selected the files/folders for the backup, it will start archiving all the items to an external USB device (flash drive or HDD). Once the backup process has finished, remove the external device. The next time you connect the device to your computer, the software will automatically backup new and modified files.
