Description
Linux X10 Universal Device Driver
Linux X10 universal device driver, also called Project WiSH, makes it super easy to connect to an X10 network. It does this by using a mix of Linux kernel modules and daemons, giving you a clean /dev
interface.
What Can You Do with Linux X10?
This driver is all about giving you a standard way to control your smart home devices. Whether you're using shell scripts like cat and echo, or writing in Perl, C, or Java, you can manage your X10 devices smoothly. You can even go from simple tasks to more complex automation projects without worrying about what transceiver you're using!
Getting Started with Shell Scripts
The easiest way to use this driver is through shell scripts. The package comes with some handy examples that show you how it's done. Plus, the project currently supports three types of X10 transceivers: PowerLinc Serial, PowerLinc USB, and CM11A.
Key Features of Linux X10 Universal Device Driver
- Full /dev/x10 capability: Enjoy non-blocking writes for quick commands.
- PowerLinc Serial support: Full compatibility with the PowerLinc Serial transceiver.
- CM11A support: Complete functionality for the CM11A Serial transceiver.
- PowerLinc USB support: Works great with the USB version (including necessary kernel patches).
What's New in This Release?
- X10 state machine simulator now runs in user space.
- A new kernel module keeps track of each device's status and implements an API only.
- You can now do non-blocking writes! This means you can queue commands quickly without delays.
- The PowerLinc USB now uses HID interface for better performance.
- This version 2.0 drivers work smoothly with kernels 2.6.7 and higher as well as 2.4.0 (however, keep in mind that the PowerLinc USB won’t work on kernel 2.4 due to some limitations).
- Easier compilation and installation methods are included!
