LLDP Beacon

LLDP Beacon is a handy tool for Windows that helps system administrators broadcast data packets to all connected interfaces every 30 seconds. It makes managing networks a lot easier!

What is LLDP?

This software uses something called the Link Layer Discovery Protocol, or LLDP for short. This protocol helps network devices like switches and bridges gather info about other connected workstations and nodes through SNMP. But before you get started, remember that you need WinPCap installed on your system to collect data.

Easy to Use

Now, LLDP Beacon doesn’t have a fancy user interface, but its commands are super simple and easy to remember. You can use the -h argument to set the hostname and the -s parameter to specify the operating system name. Don’t worry if you forget these—if they’re not there, LLDP Beacon will just pull the info it needs using wmic!

Install as a Service

If you want LLDP Beacon running all the time, you can set it up as a Windows service. Just type this command: lldp-beacon.exe install. And when you want to remove it? That’s easy too! Just type lldp-beacon.exe remove.

What Information Does It Send?

The packets that LLDP Beacon sends contain key details like your computer's name, MAC address, network interface info, used ports, and even what version of the operating system you're running. It scans for any LLDP-enabled network adapters and sends out that data packet every 30 seconds.
