The Logitech MediaPlay Cordless Mouse USB Linux driver is designed to help your USB Logitech MediaPlay mice work smoothly with Linux. If you're looking to get the most out of your MediaPlay mouse, you’re in the right spot!
When I first picked up this mouse, I was super excited but also worried about how those multimedia buttons would play nice with Linux. After doing some digging online, it seemed like there wasn’t much info out there. So, I rolled up my sleeves and decided to figure it out myself.
I spent quite a few hours browsing through kernel source files and reading USB documentation. It was a bit of a challenge, but after my research, I finally created a bitmap for the MediaPlay multimedia keys! This step was crucial because it allowed me to map those buttons correctly.
The next hurdle was updating usbmouse.c, thanks to Vojtech Pavlik’s work. This change let us grab those extra mouse keys and make them act like keyboard entries using the kernel input core support. Pretty cool, right?
