Installing on Linux

If you're using a Red-Hat-based Linux system, like Fedora Core or SUSE, or a Debian-based one like Ubuntu, installing the Lorem Ipsum Generator is pretty straightforward. Just grab either the RPM or DEB packages:

• First, make sure you have Python, GTK+, and PyGTK installed on your system.


• Next, download and install the RPM or DEB packages that are available.


• You should find a shortcut in your Application menu under the "Other" category.


• If you prefer using the terminal, you can start the program by typing lorem-ipsum-generator, which usually gets installed under /usr/bin.

Using Source Packages

If you want to work with source packages instead, follow these steps:

• Make sure you have Python, GTK+, PyGTK, and Python Distutils installed first.


• Download and extract the source package (look for .tar.gz or .tar.bz2 files).


• Open your terminal and navigate to where you've extracted the files.


• Now run this command: python setup.py install. You might need super-user privileges for this (so use su or sudo).


• You should see that shortcut in your Application menu under "Other" again!


• And just like before, if you're into command line stuff, start it with: lorem-ipsum-generator.
