Description
Luxor
Luxor is a free, open-source XML UI Language (XUL) toolkit. It's released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). With Luxor, you can build user interfaces using XML. It even comes with a super lightweight, multi-threaded web server, a portal engine, a template engine called Velocity, and a scripting interpreter in Python.
What is XUL?
XUL stands for XML UI Language. Mozilla first developed it and it has some cool features! One of the best things about XUL is that it separates the user interface into four clear parts:
- Content: This includes the structure and description of UI elements.
- Appearance: This covers how everything looks—think skins and themes.
- Behavior: This part is all about scripting.
- Locale: This gives localization info for international users.
Why Choose Luxor?
The content in XUL is pretty straightforward. Here's a quick example to help explain. Building UIs with XUL is much easier than trying to hard-wire everything in Java. Plus, using XUL means you won't get stuck with just the Swing toolkit! You can create new rendering engines using different UI toolkits like KDE, Gnome, or WinForms.
