Media Progress is a GNOME Shell extension that adds a handy media real-time progress bar right into the GNOME Shell Notification area. This little tool is part of why GNOME is such a popular desktop environment in the Linux community. With many extensions out there, some are just okay, while others really impress you. Media Progress falls somewhere in between.
You might wonder, does it do anything special? Well, yes! While it’s not super flashy, this extension lets you see how far along your media is playing with a simple progress bar. But here’s the kicker—it’s interactive! You can actually click on it to jump to different parts of whatever you're listening to or watching.
This means you have more control over your media experience than just being a passive listener. Want to skip ahead? Just click on the spot in the progress bar you want to jump to!
Now, I do think this extension has great potential, but it's not perfect yet. Sometimes it might stop working out of the blue. If that happens, don’t worry! You can usually fix it by quickly restarting it from the Extension Manager app, which I highly recommend keeping handy.
