Mockman is a cool tool that helps you create mock servers right on your computer. So, what's a mock server? Well, they're kind of like pretend servers that mimic how real servers respond. This is super helpful when you're testing APIs or working on API responses.
Mockman is totally free and open-source! It's built on Electron, which means it can run on any platform. You get a really nice interface that makes it easy to set up and manage your mock servers without any hassle.
The best part about using Mockman is how convenient it is. To create a new mock server, just hit the add button. After that, you'll need to fill in some details like the server name, port number, and prefix. Just make sure the port isn't already in use!
Once your server is set up, you can start adding APIs to it! You'll configure things like the method (GET, POST), route, response code, latency settings, and even the request options and response data for each API. It's all pretty straightforward!
When you're done setting everything up, just click the start button to fire up your server! The testing data usually gets saved in either $XDG_CONFIG_HOME or ~/.config on most Linux systems.
If you want to set up an HTTPS server with Mockman, you'll need to pay attention before starting it. Mockman uses self-signed certificates for these servers. So it's a good idea to install the rootCA component first before sending out any HTTPS requests.
Now, while some people might not love that Mockman runs on Electron because it can use more resources than other tools out there, it definitely does its job well! If you're new to mock servers or just want something user-friendly, download Mockman here!
If you're not super experienced with mock servers yet, Mockman makes things easy and manageable for you!
