Description

Net Scanner

Net Scanner is a handy tool for network administration. It has a bunch of features to help you manage workstations, convert hosts, and run port scans. Now, it's worth noting that this program hasn't had any updates in a while. Because of that, some parts might not work as they should or could be a bit outdated. But hey, it can still be useful if you’re working with older versions of Windows!

Features of Net Scanner

This application comes with a cool lookup function. You can use it to find out the IP address for a specific domain name or the other way around! Plus, there's a built-in port scanner that helps test servers or hosts to see which services are available and check for open ports. This is super helpful for admins looking to make sure their networks are secure.

Getting Computer Names Made Easy

Another neat feature is that you can easily get your computer name or even the name of a remote workstation. Just enter the local or remote IP address, and Net Scanner will do the rest!

Whois Tool Functionality

The program includes a whois tool too! This lets you dig up info about domain registration records like who owns it, contact details, and when it was created or will expire.

Pinging Domain Addresses

You’ll also find a ping function in Net Scanner. Admins can send requests to see if certain domains or IP addresses are reachable across the network.

User Interface Overview

The interface is pretty basic and has an old-school vibe—kind of like the first versions of Windows! During our tests, we found that it crashed when using the 'whois' function and had issues with the 'ping' tool as well. However, we could still retrieve local computer names and resolve host names without any trouble.

A Good Option for Basic Needs?

Net Scanner offers some essential tools every network admin might need. That said, its functions feel outdated at times and may not always work properly. If you're after something more modern with extra features, you might want to check out other options!
