Description
Network Notepad
Network Notepad is a handy little tool for Windows that helps you whip up network diagrams. You can use lots of preset objects and even add your own text to make it fit your needs.
User Experience
Now, I have to be honest—the layout might not feel super user-friendly at first glance. So, don’t be surprised if you need to spend some time figuring out how everything works. There’s no help manual available, which means you’ll need to play around with the features to really get the hang of it.
Importing and Exporting
One cool thing about Network Notepad is that it lets you import and export data in CSV or NDG formats. Plus, you can save your diagrams as BMP, GIF, or PNG files and print them out too!
Built-in Library of Objects
You also get access to a built-in library where you can embed objects into your network diagram. These are sorted into three categories: Flowchart, General, and Title blocks. It makes adding elements pretty easy.
Edit Like a Pro
The drag-and-drop support is super helpful! You can easily move objects around, use basic editing features like cut, copy, paste, delete, undo or redo actions—basically everything you'd expect when editing documents.
Add Your Personal Touch
If you want to customize things further, you can add text wherever you'd like in the diagram. You have options for changing the font style, size, color—you name it! You can even add connection points and display IP addresses right on the diagram.
Edit Diagram Properties
Network Notepad allows you to tweak diagram properties too. You can specify names and notes for your diagrams while adjusting canvas sizes and colors for the foreground and background as well as grid lines.
A Few Drawbacks
Overall, Network Notepad has a decent set of features for making network diagrams. However, it could really use some improvements in its interface to make things more intuitive. Since it hasn’t been updated in a while, it's best suited if you're using an older operating system.
