Description
Microsoft Office
If you're looking to use Microsoft Office with Group Policy, you'll need to install the Administrative Template files for Microsoft Office. So far, Microsoft has rolled out the Office 2013 Administrative Template files and the Office Customization Tool, which are meant to work smoothly with Office 2010, 2013, and even some versions of Microsoft 365.
Installing Administrative Template Files
The good news is that installing these Administrative Template files is pretty simple! Just make sure you run the installer as an administrator to avoid any hiccups. During the setup process, you’ll want to create an Office ADMX folder where you can extract all those files you just downloaded.
Setting Up Group Policy
On the functionality side of things, it’s important to place the Central Store for Group Policy Administrative Templates or a similar domain controller in that same folder. This way, you’ll be able to manage everything easily. After installation, you can confirm if everything went well by using the Group Policy Management Editor. Just right-click on the Default Domain Policy and hit Edit. If all is good, you'll see those Microsoft Office folders pop up!
Helpful Resources
If you’re running into issues during installation or configuration, don’t sweat it! There are plenty of guides available online that walk you through each step for installing Administrative Template files specific to your version of Office. You can find them quite handy!
