Papi
Papi is a handy tool that helps you automate the process of building NOSRC RPMs. Now, what’s a nosrc.rpm? It’s similar to a regular source rpm (src.rpm), but it doesn’t include the source tarball because of legal reasons. People usually use these nosrc.rpms with things like Java packages or Acrobat Reader. You’ll often see them with closed-source software that you can download for free. The main goal of creating a nosrc.rpm is to make sure the application fits nicely into your distribution.
Why Use Papi?
Building a nosrc.rpm isn’t as simple as it sounds; it takes some understanding of RPM building. That’s where Papi steps in! It gives you a list of supported packages and guides you to where you can download them. After downloading, Papi will ask for the file you downloaded and then rebuilds the rpm automatically for you.
