PastebinGTK is a free and open source graphical software implemented in Python around the GTK+ toolkit, designed from the offset to act as an easy-to-use desktop client for the best text sharing service on the Internet, pastebin.com. In other words, PastebinGTK is a simple and useful Pastebin client for your Linux desktop. The software is also the first ever graphical Pastebin client for Linux kernel-based operating systems, as many command-line Pastebin clients existed.
To install the PastebinGTK application on your GNU/Linux box, you must first download the latest release from Softpedia. Save the archive on a location of your choice and unpack it using your favorite archive manager utility. Make sure that all of the app's runtime dependencies are installed, then open a terminal emulator program and navigate to the location where you have extracted the archive file (e.g. cd /home/softpedia/pastebingtk_1.0). Execute the 'python pastebingtk.py' command to fire up the application. You can now create a new Paste or open an existing one. Please keep in mind that when creating a new Paste, you will be able to select the format of the Paste, as well as to set the expiration date and its exposure.
Under the hood, PastebinGTK uses the PastebinPython API (Application Programming Interface) wrapper created by Ferdinand E. Silva. It is written entirely in the Python programming language and use the GTK+ GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface.
