Description

PDF Mix Tool

PDF Mix Tool is a free and open-source application made just for Linux users. It offers an easy-to-use interface to help you do some basic editing on your PDF files without any fuss.

Getting Started with PDF Mix Tool

Before diving into all the cool stuff this app can do, it's important to know that you'll need to install an xdg-desktop-portal backend for it to work properly. Depending on your desktop environment, you can pick either xdg-desktop-portal-gtk or xdg-desktop-portal-kde.

Main Features of PDF Mix Tool

This tool lets you merge two or more PDF files together. You even have the option to specify how many pages from each file you want to include! Plus, if you need to rotate pages within a PDF, or combine multiple pages into one, this app has got you covered.

Edit Your PDFs Like a Pro

You can also mix up your files by alternating their pages, generate booklets, add blank pages, delete unwanted pages, extract specific ones, and even edit the document's info.

User Experience and Design

Now, I won't lie—PDF Mix Tool isn't the fanciest or feature-packed app out there. But you know what? It gets the job done! Just be ready to spend a little time learning how everything works.

Navigating PDF Mix Tool

The way this app operates is pretty straightforward. To start working with your PDFs, hit that "Add PDF file" button. If you want to tweak a specific file’s settings, double-click on it. When you're all set and ready to save your changes, just click on the "Generate PDF" button at the bottom.

Setting Page Filters Made Easy

If you're looking to filter which pages you'd like in your final document, use this format: "1-5, 7-10, 15, 19" or simply "1-5 7-10 15 19." If you want all the pages included? Just leave that field blank! You can even overlap intervals if needed so that certain pages will show up more than once.

A Good Option for Basic Editing

While PDF Mix Tool might not be everyone’s top choice for editing PDFs, it's definitely worth checking out. It’s solid enough—even if it feels a bit clunky at times on machines like Ubuntu 22.04.
