PersistentWindows
PersistentWindows is a tiny utility designed to address a common issue in Windows 7 to 10, namely that the windows are moved and resized on display power cycle if the configuration features a multiple display. The application works with both local and remote desktop configuration.
Features:
- Automatically restores window layout
- Works with local and remote desktop configuration
- Keeps track of window and taskbar positions in real time
- Can save layout desktop captures on the local drive
- Allows users to easily restore closed windows after reboot
- Enables snapshots for each configuration with a maximum of 36
- Snapshots can be used as alternatives to virtual desktops in Windows 10
Take note that the app includes a few known issues, such as that certain apps cannot simply be launched when restored from disk, while other tools need Administrator to run.
PersistentWindows is a practical solution to maintain window positioning and layout consistency across power cycles and monitor setups.
