Proto is a cool file manager designed for those who love using the command-line console instead of a regular GUI. It lets you do all sorts of tasks using keyboard shortcuts, which is pretty awesome!

Features of Proto File Manager

When you launch Proto, it drops an icon in your system tray and minimizes there. It automatically indexes your fixed NTFS drives and any removable media you plug in. This means you can easily browse through these locations without any hassle.

User-Friendly Design

This software supports multiple tabs and lets you choose from different UI themes. You can check out size info for your disks, and sort files by name, extension, size, or when they were created or last modified (either ascending or descending). Plus, you can open files and start programs right from the interface!

Clipboard Magic

You can also copy items to the Clipboard with ease. Want to add file paths to an existing list in the Clipboard? No problem! You can send stuff to the Recycle Bin or delete them forever too. Need to rename files? Proto lets you use regular expressions for that!

Extra Tools Included

If you're looking to convert file types or compress files using 7-Zip (which comes bundled with it), Proto’s got your back! As long as you have .NET Framework, there's nothing else to set up.

Portable Option

You can store Proto on any part of your hard drive or even on a USB flash drive so you can run it on different PCs without much effort. The best part? It won’t mess with your Windows registry settings.

No Issues Found!

During our tests, we didn’t encounter any error messages, and it didn’t freeze or crash at all! It uses very little CPU and RAM too. Just remember that while the keyboard shortcuts are super handy, they aren't listed in the main window—so check out the documentation included in your download!

Your New File Management Buddy

Once you get used to it, Proto makes managing files really simple if you're more comfortable with a keyboard than a mouse. Just wish they would update it more often!
