ProZilla is a fantastic download accelerator for Linux that can seriously boost your file downloading speeds by 200% to 300%! That's right, you'll get your files faster than ever.
Here are some cool things about ProZilla:
If you want to get started with ProZilla, you'll need to unpack the tarball first. Just run this command in your terminal:
tar -xzvf prozilla-xxx.tar.gz
(Replace xxx with the version number; for example, if it's prozilla-1.3.6, type tar -xzvf prozilla-1.3.6.tar.gz
). After that, change into the unpacked ProZilla directory and run:
./configure
This sets everything up for you!
Once configuration is done, just type:
make
This compiles the package. To install it, switch to root and enter:
make install
This will put the files in the default location: /usr/local/bin. If you want a different directory, use the --prefix option like this:
./configure --prefix=/usr
The syntax for downloading a file is simple: just use this format:
proz < URL >
An example would be:
proz http://genesys.ro/downloads/prozilla/tarballs/prozilla-1.3.6.tar.gz
This connects to genesys.ro and downloads prozilla-1.3.6.tar.gz using default settings.
Please remember that recursive downloads aren't supported! So using something like this won't work:
