Description

py_file_client

py_file_client might have a quirky name, but it's an awesome open-source app that makes transferring files super easy! Built with Python, this graphical tool has both client and server programs, so you can quickly send files from one computer to another without any hassle.

Why Use py_file_client?

This software was created because there just weren't any simple tools for Linux users to transfer files without using cables or complicated setups like Samba or NFS (Network File System). It fills that gap perfectly!

Cool Features of py_file_client

Here are some cool things about py_file_client: it has a reliable server component that runs quietly in the background and doesn't need much hardware to work. Plus, it sports a modern graphical user interface built with Qt. You can set your default directory for both the client and server, view hidden files, stop the server from the client side, and even keep an eye on everything with a log window!

How to Get Started with py_file_client

If you want to try it out, you'll first need to download the latest version of py_file_client. You can grab it from Softpedia or its GitHub page. Once downloaded, save it where you like, extract the files, and then open up a terminal emulator.

Running the Application

You’ll have to use the ‘cd’ command in your terminal to navigate to where you extracted everything. To get started with file transfers, first launch the server by typing ‘python py_file_server.py’ in your terminal (don’t forget those quotes!). Then connect using the client by entering ‘python py_file_client.py’. You’ll need the IP address and port number for everything to connect smoothly.

A Bit About Its Tech Specs

The entire program is made using Python, including both client and server parts. It also uses Qt for its user interface. The good news? It's available as a single universal source archive that's compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. So no worries—py_file_client should work great on all Linux distributions!
