What is QuickSynergy FOR LINUX?

QuickSynergy

QuickSynergy is a super handy graphical interface (GUI) that helps you easily set up Synergy2. This awesome app lets you share your mouse and keyboard between two or more computers, making your work so much easier!

How Synergy2 Works

So here’s the cool part: Synergy2 uses the TCP-IP protocol. That means you can share all your resources without needing any extra hardware. And it works like a charm even if you're using different operating systems, whether it's Mac OS, Linux, or Windows!

The GUI for Mac and Linux

If you're on Mac OS or Linux, QuickSynergy is perfect for you! The official website only shows a version for Windows, but with QuickSynergy, you’re covered.

Installation Steps

Getting started is easy! Just follow these steps:

  • ./configure

  • make

  • make install

You’ll need to have the GTK 2.0 and libglade-2.0 development packages installed on your computer to make sure everything compiles nicely.

Setting Up as a Server

If you want to set up Synergy as a server, just click on the Server tab in the QuickSynergy main window. Fill in the fields with the IP addresses or hostnames of your clients and hit Start. If you need to stop the server later, just click Stop.

A little tip: you can’t change any settings or start a Synergy client while the server is running! Also, if you close the window, don’t worry—the server won’t stop automatically.

Setting Up as a Client

If you're setting it up as a client instead, switch over to the Client tab in QuickSynergy's main window. Enter the server's IP address or hostname and click Start. Again, when running as a client, don't try changing the server's address or starting another Synergy server until you're done!

What's New in This Release:

  • - Fixed some potential segmentation faults when loading/saving configuration files (thanks to Jérémie Corbier for that patch).
