Description

RDIT

RDIT, which stands for Rain-based Drought Indices Tool, is a super handy software that helps you easily calculate eight different drought-related weather indices. If you're looking for a straightforward way to keep track of drought data, this tool is definitely worth checking out!

What Drought Indices Can You Calculate?

This app lets you quickly calculate some well-known drought indices, including:

  • SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index)

  • DI (Deciles Index)

  • PN (Percent or Normal Index)

  • RAI (Rainfall Anomaly Index)

  • EDI (Effective Drought Index)

  • CZI (China-Z Index)

  • MCZI (Modified CZI)

  • ZSI (Z-Score Index)

No matter your experience level, working with RDIT is pretty simple and can be done by anyone. You don’t need to be a pro to figure it out!

User-Friendly Steps to Get Started

You start by uploading your data using an XLSX file from the Data tab. Just choose the sheets, specify the data format, and pick the columns you need for your calculations. Don’t forget to select the "Rain" value from all available options.

Your Analysis Awaits!

Once you've loaded your data, go to the Run Model section. Here, you’ll select your study period, click “Set,” specify any frequency variables you want, and hit “Generate.” Oh! And if you want to save those charts as pictures later on, that's totally doable. Plus, there’s a helpful “Severity” section that could come in handy.
