What is Rocket FOR LINUX?

Rocket FOR LINUX

Describing what Rocket is might be a bit more difficult than actually telling you what it does.

In short, it allows you to synchronize music and visuals in demoscene productions. It does so with the help of a Qt5-based GUI editor, and an ANSI C library that can "communicate with the editor over a network socket, or playback an exported data set."

Key Features:

  • Multi-purpose modular rocket control system

  • Support for a warhead plugin interface

  • Full standard compliant remote navigation protocols

  • Completely free and open-source

  • Works on all major OSes (Windows, macOS, and Linux)

Technical Specifications:

  • Editor uses qmake for outputting Makefiles and project files

  • Built directly from QtCreator

  • Interpolation modes for keyframes

Using the editor is very similar to using a music tracker, with each track represented by a "variable" over the entire time domain of the demo. Each row represents a specific point in time containing keyframes that are interpolated over time.

More information about the interpolation modes can be found directly by checking out Rocket's GitHub repository.

Rocket is a very interesting multi-purpose modular rocket control system that allows you to synchronize music and visuals. It's a rare and different app that is definitely worth considering.
