What is Siege FOR LINUX?

SIEGE

SIEGE is a super handy tool that's open source and totally free to use! It was built to be an HTTP benchmarking and regression testing utility for your GNU/Linux system. While it can work with a Windows HTTP server, it doesn’t support the Windows operating system itself.

Why Use SIEGE?

This software was created to help web developers like you measure how well your code performs under pressure. Want to see how your site holds up when lots of people visit? This is the tool for that! Currently, SIEGE supports cookies and works with both HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Plus, it handles basic authentication too!

Getting Started with SIEGE

To start using SIEGE, you'll need to download the latest version from Softpas. After downloading, extract the files somewhere easy to find. Next, open up a terminal emulator, go to where you extracted the files, and run this command: ./configure && make. This will set everything up for you.

Installing SIEGE

If you want SIEGE installed across your whole system, just execute make install as root (be careful with that!). To start using it, you’ll need to create a new configuration file by running the command siege.config.

Coding Language and Compatibility

The cool part? The entire application is written in C programming language! It’s designed specifically for GNU/Linux but has also been successfully ported over to other UNIX-like systems like BSD, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX. Most newer BSD systems should compile it just fine!

Final Thoughts on SIEGE
