What is Siproxd FOR LINUX?

Siproxd FOR LINUX

Siproxd is a proxy/masquerading daemon designed for the SIP protocol. It effectively manages registrations of SIP clients on a private IP network and conducts rewriting of SIP message bodies to facilitate SIP connections through a masquerading firewall (NAT).

Key Features:

  • Enables SIP software and hardware clients to function behind an IP masquerading firewall or NAT router

  • Supports SIP, the preferred protocol for VoIP phones, in initiating communication

  • Offers an alternative solution to traverse NAT alongside STUN or SIP-aware NAT routers

  • Requires libosip2 installation for seamless operations

Technical Specifications:

  • Ensure libposip2 libraries are located in /usr/local/lib

  • Include the library path to /etc/ld.so.conf

  • Configuration steps:

    • Run './configure'

    • Execute 'make'

    • Conclude with 'make install'

  • Adjust /usr/etc/siproxd.conf as per your requirements, specifically 'if_inbound' and 'if_outbound'

  • Edit /usr/etc/siproxd_passwd.cfg if client authentication is enabled in siproxd.conf

  • Initiate siproxd without root privileges using the command '$ siproxd'
