Description

SNMP Explorer

SNMP Explorer is a handy tool for those who are pretty experienced with networking. It helps you find and keep an eye on SNMP agent systems right in your local network. What’s cool is that it comes with a navigator for the MIB (Management Information Base), a built-in web browser, and even trap logging, among other features.

Old but Useful

Before we dive deeper, just a heads-up: this software is quite old and hasn’t had any updates in ages. So, if you're using a modern computer, it might not work perfectly.

Launching the Tool

If you decide to give it a go, remember to run it with administrative rights! The interface looks pretty classic with a big window that has everything organized neatly.

Finding Hosts Easily

You can either type in a computer’s host name or IP address, or let SNMP Explorer automatically find all hosts within a certain range. It quickly fills up the main window with IP addresses along with PC names and descriptions. You can even group these into different communities!

Trap Logging Made Simple

Once you select one of the hosts, trap logging kicks in automatically. After gathering all the necessary info, SNMP Explorer shows you the ID, name, value, and value type of all identified objects—it's all laid out nicely in a hierarchical format.

MIB Walk and More

You can send out a MIB Walk signal to explore the SNMP tree or stop that process anytime. Plus, sending traps is easy; just input the system's IP address along with other details like community and trap number. You can also look at or turn off traps logging if needed.

MIB List Access

This tool can grab an entire MIB list along with its definitions! And yes, it still has that built-in web browser—it might look basic now but hey, it still works!

Tweaking Settings

If you want to change things up, you can adjust default port numbers for SNMP Get/Set operations as well as trap sending and listening times—just set your timeout in seconds!

No Stability Issues Found

In our tests, we didn’t face any stability problems; it didn’t freeze or crash on us at all! It handled scan jobs quickly while being light on system resources. Just wish it would get some updates!
