sSMTP FOR LINUX



sSMTP is an extremely simple MTA (Mail Transport Agent) to get mail off the system to a mail hub. It is a sendmail replacement.

  • Berkeley-derived

  • Uses /usr/lib/sendmail as mail transfer agent

  • Compatible with SunOS 4.1.1, NextStep 2.x/3, Ultrix 4.2, AIX 3.2, RISCos, DG U/X 5, SVR4

  • Cygwin port available with a specific setting



WARNING: sSMTP does not receive mail, expand aliases, or manage a queue. These functions belong on a mailhub with a system administrator.



How to Use:


Simply install by copying the correct binary and an optional four-line config file to the target machine. Refer to the man page and program logic manual for further details.
