Description

TextureLab

TextureLab is an exciting tool for anyone looking to create tileable textures, texture sets, and complex patterns. While many folks think of Substance Designer as the go-to app, there are some cool alternatives out there that are ready to step up!

Why Choose TextureLab?

This app is still growing and has a lot of potential! Built with Electron and Vue, TextureLab works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Plus, it’s open-source! So if you’re the curious type who loves exploring new tools, this one’s for you.

User-Friendly Design

Now, it might not have all the fancy features or polished look of some big-name programs yet. But don’t let that fool you! The interface is pretty straightforward, making it great for beginners who want to dive into texture creation.

Main Window Overview

The main window layout is easy to navigate. In the center is a big node editor where all the magic happens. On the left side, you’ll find 2D and 3D view panels. To the right are your library and properties panel. The 3D viewer is especially handy since it lets you see various tiling options from 1x to 4x on shapes like spheres, cubes, planes, and cylinders.

Powerful Features

TextureLab supports over 25 nodes and can handle resolutions from 1024x1024 up to a whopping 4096x4096! You can batch export your textures or save them individually—whichever suits your workflow. And if you're using Unity for game development? Good news! You can easily export your work directly into Unity.

The Road Ahead

No doubt about it; TextureLab has room to grow as competition is tough in this field. But it's surprisingly capable for indie game developers who don’t need all those advanced features just yet. So why not give it a shot? If you're interested in trying out TextureLab for yourself, check out its download page here!
