Description

Unbound

Unbound is a handy tool that can really help you with your computer's DNS resolver cache. So, what's that? Well, it's like a temporary database on your computer that keeps track of the websites you've visited—both the ones that worked and the ones that didn't. Sometimes, this database can get messed up by dodgy domains or just technical glitches.

What Does Unbound Do?

With Unbound, you can flush that cache and fix those annoying redirects to sites filled with ads and trackers. This Command Line utility is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it!

Getting Started with Unbound

The app does come with an installer file, but you'll need to use the Command Line to access it. Don't worry; there's a configuration file that's fully annotated, making it easier to understand what each option does. Plus, it has chroot enabled for extra protection against remote exploits! But keep in mind, if you're not super tech-savvy, this might feel a bit overwhelming.

Remote Access Made Easy

If you want to flush DNS on another PC remotely, Unbound has got you covered! Just use the unbound-control file first to create the TLS key. Make sure your server can read those keys; otherwise, things won’t work as smoothly.

How Unbound Works

This tool sends requests to authority servers online until it gets a response. Usually, everything runs smoothly without any hiccups! It sets an average timeout for each IP address it checks out. Whenever it gets a response back from these servers, Unbound updates its infra-cache.

Handling Timeouts and Blocks

If there’s no answer after waiting more than 120 seconds, Unbound might block those requests for safety reasons. The good news is—you have full control over how it behaves in case something goes wrong or if there are delays!

If you're ready to improve your browsing experience and tackle those pesky redirects head-on, check out Unbound here!
