Virtual GameBoy Advance, or VGBA for short, is a cool program that lets you play Nintendo's GameBoy Advance games right on your computer. Whether you're using a PC, PDA, or any fast enough device, VGBA makes it super easy to dive into those classic games. Plus, if you're into game development, it’s also handy for debugging GameBoy Advance software without needing an expensive setup.
I’ve actually created another emulator called VGB that works with older GameBoy and GameBoy Color games. But because the GameBoy Advance has totally different hardware, I had to build a whole new emulator just for it! So when I released VGBA back in 2000, I believe it was the very first GameBoy Advance emulator out there. It didn’t take long before other emulators popped up too!
The best part about Virtual GameBoy Advance? It’s written in portable C language! This means it can run on pretty much any device that’s fast enough. So whether you’re gaming on a computer, video game console, PDA, MP3 player, DVD player, set-top box, cell phone, or even some digital cameras – VGBA has got you covered.
If your company is thinking about using GameBoy Advance emulation in its products, I offer licensing options! You can get either the full VGBA source code or just the ARM7 CPU emulation from me. It’s a great way to bring those beloved games to life in new ways!
