The standard system tray volume icon isn’t particularly helpful if you need to know the exact sound level, as it only displays three steps that aren’t that informative. Volume Monitor is a very simple application that allows you to view the volume of the primary output device in percentage form, using a system tray icon.

Volume Monitor is a very small app, and its resource usage is pretty much negligible. It can easily replace the standard volume indicator if you want to get more accurate information.

Whether you want to replace the standard volume indicator or just get some additional info, Volume Monitor is a nifty little app that can certainly prove helpful. It displays the audio level of the current output device in percentage form, ensuring you always know exactly how loud your PC is without having to click the Windows volume indicator icon.

However, it would be great if the application offered a few more customization options, as it is currently not possible to change the default font, text size, or color.
