Widget Maker is a handy little app made for the Yahoo! Widget Engine. It lets you create your very own widgets using JavaScript code and XML scripts. How cool is that?

Easy to Use Interface

The interface is clean and super easy to navigate. You can move the widget frame anywhere on your screen just by dragging it with your mouse.

Getting Started with Your Widget

You can kick things off by setting up your widget's details. This includes choosing the version, minimum version, whether you want strict XML checking, debug mode, tracking attributes (like opacity or rectangle), and what platform it’ll work on—Windows, Macintosh, or both! Plus, you have the option to allow custom object attributes and arbitrary XML. You can even decide if the window position should stay put.

Create an About Box

If you want to add an About box, you can do that too! Just specify an image, some text, and a URL. You can also tweak settings like font name, size, style, offset, color, and shadow effects.

Defining Images and Text Areas

You can define images using an ID or name along with their size, alignment, offset, opacity, style, visibility settings—basically everything! For text areas too; they share the same settings as the About box!

Scheduling Events and Configuring Hotkeys

Your widget can be set to trigger events based on user actions like gaining focus or waking up from sleep mode. You can also customize hotkeys and preferences such as checkboxes for colors or fonts!

Light on Resources

This feature-packed widget won’t slow down your computer either! It uses very little CPU and system memory while responding quickly to keystrokes and mouse events. Plus it comes with user documentation so you're not left in the dark.

In our tests of Widget Maker, we didn’t run into any issues—it didn’t hang up or crash at all! Just keep in mind that this app is best for those who have some skills in JavaScript.
