WildPackets Network Calculator

\n

WildPackets Network Calculator is a handy tool for anyone into network analysis. It combines several features all in one place, making it super useful. You get the Hexpert Calculator for converting numbers between binary, decimal, and hexadecimal. Plus, there's an IP Subnet Calculator to help with subnet and supernet address calculations. And don't forget the Latency Calculator, which figures out latency across different LANs and WANs.

\n\n

Understanding Latency

\n

The Latency Statistics tab is pretty cool! It shows you how long data takes to travel from point A to point B (or round trip). You can see this info for client-to-server, server-to-client, or both ways. The time it takes for a packet depends on its size, the network's bandwidth, and any delays along the way.

\n\n

Visualizing Latency with Graphs

\n

If you like visuals, you're in luck! The program provides Latency Graphs, which make it easier to understand how much delay each network adds. Each color on the graph represents a percentage of total time that specific network contributes.

\n\n

Quick Base Conversions

\n

The Base Lookup table is your go-to for quick base conversions. By default, you'll see numbers from 0 to 255, but you can also check out larger numbers in hexadecimal or binary. Want to see what 12345 looks like? No problem!

\n\n

The Bit-Swapper Feature

\n

A new addition in version 3 is the Bit-Swapper. This lets you enter a value in any base and reverses that number either byte by byte or as a whole.

\n\n

The OUI Finder Tool

\n

An exciting feature in version 3 is the OUI Finder. This tool searches through nearly 3,500 OUIs to find out which manufacturer made a specific network interface card. Plus, it checks for bit-swapped versions automatically!

\n\n

Diving into Address Information

\n

The Address Info Tab shows you details about an address class and its range. You'll also get a color-coded bit map along with binary and hexadecimal representations of that address.

\n\n

Your Subnetting Needs Covered

\n

The Subnet Info Tab allows various ways to enter subnet information: by subnet bits count, total mask bits count, number of subnets, number of hosts, or just using the subnet mask in dotted decimal format. It then generates color-coded maps breaking down everything nicely.

\n\n

CIDR Information for ISPs and Corporations

\n

If you're working with many Class C addresses as an ISP or corporation, check out the CIDR Tab. Here you can input an IP address and see how many supernets you can create along with their ranges.
