Description
WordConvs
WordConvs is a super handy tool for converting and formatting text. It uses the text converters from Microsoft Word 7.0 or later, making it easy to convert files created with other word processors. Plus, this program lets you tweak document settings like page width, height, and margins—basically almost everything you’d adjust in MS Word. This means you can quickly standardize a batch of documents that were made with different settings.
Easy File Conversion
With WordConvs, you can convert files to and from many formats using Microsoft Word's converters. If you have another converter program you prefer, no problem! You can use that too. This is really helpful if your usual program doesn’t support batch processing or if it doesn’t scan subdirectories or hidden files—something WordConvs does just fine. It’s also great because some converters might not let you know if there’s an error during conversion, which could leave you with incomplete documents without any warning.
Accuracy Check
To help avoid mistakes during conversions, WordConvs includes a feature that counts words, lines, and characters in your input document. Since MS Word can do this for the output document too, you can compare the two counts easily! Just keep in mind that the input file counts are rough estimates since only managing the formatting gives a clearer picture.
WC.EXE Program Features
The WC.EXE program comes with your setup and works for documents made by any word processor. However, how accurate it is depends on the document format. That’s why there’s an option to set a threshold for percentage differences that trigger warning messages. You can also choose which of the three counters (words, lines, characters) to use—it’s flexible! If you've got a more precise tool available, just enter its filename in the configuration dialog along with your input and output file names set by WordConvs.
