X File Explorer (also known as Xfe) is a cool open-source file manager that works for UNIX and Linux systems. If you're used to Microsoft Explorer, you'll feel right at home with this one!



What is X File Explorer?


X File Explorer is built on the old-school X Win Commander software, which was created by Maxim Baranov. Even though X Win Commander isn’t around anymore, X File Explorer keeps that spirit alive! It’s simple to use and lets you manage your files easily.



Handy Keyboard Shortcuts


One of the best things about X File Explorer is all the keyboard shortcuts you can use to speed things up. Here’s a handy list:



  • Help: F1

  • View: F3 (or return)

  • Edit: F4

  • Copy: F5 (or ctrl-c)

  • Cut: ctrl-x

  • Paste: ctrl-v

  • Move: F6 (or ctrl-d)

  • Rename: ctrl-n

  • Delete: F8 (or del or ctrl-del)

  • Create Symlink: ctrl-s

  • Create New File: F2

  • Create New Folder: F7

  • Edit Properties: F9
