xCAT-Portscan is a handy little tool made for scanning open ports on both local and remote computers. Seriously, it’s super easy to use! All you need to do is fill in the IP address or hostname of the computer you want to check, pick the port range you're curious about, and hit the 'Scan' button. Voila! The scanner gets right to work!
How Does xCAT-Portscan Work?
Once you kick off the scan, you’ll see the ports it finds pop up in the left box. If you click on any of those ports, xCAT-Portscan will dig into its database. If it recognizes that port, you'll get a quick report about which programs or protocols can use it.
Keep in Mind
But here’s something to watch out for: just because a port is listed doesn’t mean it's only used by one program. Other applications can use those ports too! The info you get is based on what was available when the ports database was created.
